Before you put pen to paper; before you loan someone money or before you give something away, get legal advice.

A contract, both oral and written, is a legally binding agreement between two or more persons. A written contract is the best way to record any loan agreements, partnership agreements, buying or selling assets or an even an agreement for the right to occupy a premise; just to name a few things. Where you require a contract to record an agreement  with another person/s, Hegedich & De Crescenzo Lawyers can help.

We encourage our clients to seek advice early to record the agreement they are making in writing so that all parties are clear of the rights and obligations of each party from the beginning. Do not leave your agreement to chance on a handshake or on the assumption the other party is a good person. Having your agreement in writing makes it a legally binding document and will ensure that you are able to get the best possible outcome should a contractual dispute arise in the future.

Alternatively, you may have been asked to sign a document however before you do, we encourage you to get legal advice so that you understand your rights and obligations under that contract.  Once the Contract is signed altering the terms and conditions, if the other party agrees to do so, can be timely and expensive or you may even agree to something that places an unforeseeable obligation on you simply because you did not read or understand the terms of the Contract.
